Packers Pound Vikings Sunday Night
The Green Bay Packers offense sliced and diced a porous Vikings defense in a 44-31 win Sunday night at the Metrodome.
The Vikings looked to have the early momentum after Cordarrelle Patterson returned the game's opening kickoff 109 yards to the end zone for a 7-0 lead. Patterson's score tied an NFL record, set by Antonio Cromartie of San Diego at the Dome.
However, the Vikings defense could not stop the Packers, who converted 13/18 third downs and went 2-2 on fourth down conversions.
Green Bay never had to punt and never turned the ball over, while mounting scoring drives of 90, 70, 80, 93, 80, 74, 53 and 16 yards, respectively.
Meanwhile, the Vikings offense could not get anything going with Christian Ponder at quarterback. The previously benched signal caller was 14/21 for 145 yards and was sacked three times.
His Packers counterpart, Aaron Rodgers was an efficient 24/29 for 285 yards with two touchdowns.
The 1-6 Vikings are in Dallas next week to take on Tony Romo and the Cowboys.
