SARTELL - Very quietly, and with very little fanfare, a historic part of Sartell's skyline came tumbling down last (Wednesday). The old smoke stack at the former paper mill is now just a pile of rubble.

AIM Development, the company that bought the property, pulled the smoke stack down at about 7:15 p.m.

The company has been working on demolishing the site since last September. They're expected to have the project completed by the end of this year.

Verso Paper shut down the mill after an explosion and fire on Memorial Day 2012.

The oldest parts of the building date back to 1905.
