North Dakota Officials Find Body Of Missing College Student From Minnesota
VALLEY CITY, N.D. (AP) - Rescue crews searching the Sheyenne River have found the body of a Valley City State University student who went missing while rafting with two friends.
University President Steven Shirley says the victim is Dan Buehner of Blaine, Minnesota. Buehner was a senior majoring in business administration who played catcher on the school's baseball team.
The body was found about 10:30 a.m. Tuesday beneath a bridge, several hundred yards downstream from where the rubber raft capsized early Monday. Two of the male students made it to shore but the third did not.
Officials on Tuesday cut water releases through the Bald Hill Dam to lower the level of the river so officials could wade into the water to search.
