FAIRMOUNT, NORTH DAKOTA - A student at the school in Fairmount, southwest of Wahpeton, North Dakota, shot himself in front of other students this (Thursday) morning.

It happened at around 8:30 a.m. Richland county Sheriff Larry Leshovsky was on the scene.

Students in the K-12 school were released for the day.  Principal Jay Townsend says the boy was coherent when he was taken from the scene by ambulance.  Counselors have been made available.

The school has about 110 students.
