ST. CLOUD - The television character of "Thelma Harper" has been a part of the American culture for 40 years.  Vicki Lawrence is bringing her 40th Anniversary tour "Vicki Lawrence and Mama, A Two Woman Show" to St. Cloud tomorrow (Friday).

Lawrence says she'll be the first one on stage.

Lawrence says the show is a mixture of stand-up comedy, music, and her observations about real life.

She says it's hard to explain why "Mama" has remained so popular for so long...

The character of Thelma Harper didn't appear on the Carol Burnett show until it was in its seventh season in 1974. When that show ended, Vicki Lawrence continued to play the character in the series "Mama's Family" for five more years.

Both shows tomorrow (Friday) at the Paramount Theatre are sold out.
