News @ Noon: St. Cloud Woman Picked To Give TEDx Talk

ST. CLOUD - The internet video sensation known as "Ted" talks have had a history of giving a lot of people their 15 minutes of fame. Later this month a St. Cloud woman will get that chance.

Jessica Lourey has been selected to give a "Tedx" talk in Rapid City on June 22nd. It's a more regional version of the national "Ted" talk series.

She says her talk is titled "Rewrite Your Life".

I've practiced over 50 times. It's a 15 minute talk about my experience after my husband's suicide. Not so much his very tragic death, but how I eventually turned that story into fiction. It was a healing process for me.

She says she is nervous.

Honestly I'm terrified, because it is public speaking. You're on a stage with a live audience, standing on a red circle. And then you're video taped too. So it has the potential to live on forever.

Lourey says the video of her talk won't be available online until later this year.

She has been a professor at St. Cloud Technical and Community College since 2007.
