ST. CLOUD -- A New York man is jailed on several felony charges after an incident in downtown St. Cloud early Saturday morning.

St. Cloud Police were patrolling the downtown area at bar closing time early Saturday when they heard gunshots coming from the area near the Centre Square parking ramp. Officers saw four men running from the ramp, yelling they had been shot at.

The group pointed officers toward a minivan which was trying to leave. Police stopped the vehicle and questioned the driver, 31-year-old Mychal White. Police say they could smell alcohol on his breath and saw a handgun on the seat. White was arrested at the scene.

Officers say they found spent shell casings from a .25 caliber gun inside the parking garage. A search of the van later turned up the gun believed to match the casings.

The group told police they were leaving the bars at around 2:00 a.m. and were walking into the ramp when White confronted them.  They said he fired gunshots into the ground in front of their feet.

White is now charged with five felony counts including four counts of second degree assault with a weapon and illegally possessing a gun after a prior conviction.

None of the four victims were hurt in the incident.
