ST. JOSEPH -- Hundreds of alumni and academic officials from around the country gathered in St. Joseph today to attend the installation ceremony of the College of St. Benedict's new president.

Dr. Mary Dana Hinton is only the 15th president in the history of the College of St. Benedict's and mentioned in her speech that she is humbled and excited by the distinction.

"Standing at this podium is a humbling and inspiring experience," Hinton says.

The day included music, the presentation of the Presidential Medal, and a ceremony in which the university's past presidents symbolized the passing of the guard through lighting candles.

Upon receiving the Presidential Medal, Dr. Hinton received a standing ovation that lasted several minutes.
