ST. CLOUD - A new barber school is coming to St. Cloud. The "Moler Barber School of St. Cloud" is opening to the public in October.

Instructor Bill Stuart says there's a demand for barbers.

There's many barbers in that region of the state that are older and starting to retire, so we need to have new barbers come into those locations.

The Moler Barber School has been around since 1893. They have another location in the Twin Cities.

It will be a nine-month program, with students required to complete 1,500 hours. They can have up to 30 students at a time. Stuart says they're enrolling students now.

The students don't just learn how to cut hair, they learn customer service skills and teh business skills needed in barbering.

Stuart says they just require that you have at least a 10th grade education.

The school will be open to the public Tuesdays through Saturdays from 9:30 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. for haircuts, shaves, beard trims, and facials. A typical haircut will cost $7.50, with discounts for senior citizens.

The school will have two instructors and a receptionist.

The Moler Barber School will be at 200 Waite Avenue South, in the Copper Court Center.
