Funeral Services will be 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 23, 2015 at the Good Shepherd Lutheran Home Chapel for Myrtie Ann Gilbertson, 82, of Sauk Rapids, who died peacefully, at her home, surrounded by her children on December, 18, 2015. Myrtie’s final resting place will be at Oakdale Cemetery, Crookston, MN. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the Chapel on Wednesday.

Myrtie was born in Christine, ND, to Anna and Alfred Oslie, of Enderlin, ND, on July 26, 1933. After graduating from Enderlin High School, she took nursing training at Wahpeton School of Science in Wahpeton, ND. She married Clarence Nelson and moved to Crookston, MN in 1955. She remained in Crookston for 52 years where she raised 6 children. She was an involved community volunteer, an active member of the VFW women’s auxiliary and THE proud Poppy Sales Lady. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church. She married Herman Gilbertson in 1975. They were married for 25 years and after his death she made her home at Good Shepherd apartments in Sauk Rapids. She was fondly known as “Grandma UFFDA” by her 23 grandchildren and 12+ great-grandchildren, as a strong, big-hearted, 100% Norwegian who made the world’s best sugar cookies.

She will be greatly missed by her children, Lois Nelson Fischer (Jay) of Deephaven, Brenda Nelson Sterns (Alan) of Longmont, CO, Mark Nelson (Sheila) of Clear Lake, Sherilyn Nelson Provence of Crookston, Carol Nelson Lambrecht (Joe) of New Prague; step-daughters, Kathy Wasylow (Gary) of Biglund and Karen Gilbertson of Dilworth. Myrtie was preceded in death by her parents, Anna and Alfred Oslie; husbands, Clarence Nelson and Herman Gilbertson; son, Jim; an infant son; sisters, Eleanor Shelver, Gladys Dehn; brother, Clifford Oslie; and step-son, Kenny Gilbertson.
