Mya went home to the loving arms of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Wednesday, December 23, 2015, after a brief illness that led to cardiac arrest, at the Children’s Hospital in Minneapolis, MN surrounded by her loving family.

Funeral services will be Wednesday, December 30, 2015 at 5:00 PM at Calvary Community Church, St. Cloud, MN. Rev. Matthew Molesky will officiate. Visitation will be from 3:00 to 5:00 PM at the church on Wednesday. Funeral arrangements were made by Benson Funeral Home, St. Cloud, MN.

During a follow up ultrasound, on June 19th, we found out that our baby girl had Down Syndrome with a heart defect. Starting on Labor Day, Steph had daily ultrasounds to ensure Mya's safety. At 33 weeks and 5 days, on September 20th, 2015, our beautiful little girl, Mya Ruth Rammel was born at 3:52am weighing 4 lbs 1 oz and 16 inches long. She was delivered by c-section due to inadequate blood flow in the umbilical cord caused by the placenta also having 21 chromosomes and not functioning well. Mya was in the St Cloud NICU for 7 and a half weeks then transferred to the Children's Hospital of Minneapolis for 4 days to get a feeding tube. Finally after a total of 8 weeks and a day, Mya came home on November 16th, 2015. We were so blessed to have our whole family together after so many weeks apart. She brought so much joy, laughter and light to our family. Starting on December 20th, Mya was having some labored breathing and we took her to the ER. At midnight they put her on a ventilator. Right after the procedure, her heart stopped beating. They did CPR for 4 minutes and her heart started again. Then an hour later her heart stopped again. This time they had to do CPR for 13 minutes. She stabilized over night with her heart but her lungs started filling with fluid. Later on December 21st Mya was airlifted to Children's Hospital of Minneapolis because her liver, lungs, kidneys, brain and heart were all damaged during the cardiac arrest. They continued to care for her until December 23rd when she was called home with Jesus.

She is survived by her parents, John and Stephanie of Sartell, MN; brothers, Avner and Ian; maternal grandparents, Alan and Nancy Olson of Dassel, MN; paternal grandparents, Tom and Yvonne Rammel of Cokato, MN; great grandmothers, Ruth Geary of Owatonna, MN; Dee Rammel of Denver, CO; uncle and aunts, Mark (Alice) Rammel of St. Cloud, MN; Michelle (Michael) Cox of Rochester, MN; Lisa (Jonathan) Rollins of Hutchinson, MN.

Mya was preceded in death by her great grandparents, Joseph Rammel, Marlowe Geary, Norris and Evangeline “Vannie” Olson, and Willard and Dorothy Nordberg.

"But our citizenship is in Heaven. And we eagerly await a Savior from there, the Lord Jesus Christ" -- Philippians 3:20

"You made all the delicate, inner parts of my body and knit me together in my mother’s womb. Thank you for making me so wonderfully complex! Your workmanship is marvelous—how well I know it. You watched me as I was being formed in utter seclusion, as I was woven together in the dark of the womb. You saw me before I was born. Every day of my life was recorded in your book. Every moment was laid out before a single day had passed. How precious are your thoughts about me, O God. They cannot be numbered!" -- Psalm 139:13-17
