UPDATE: Teen Charged with Fatally Shooting Teacher

MAHTOMEDI (AP) -  A 19-year-old man has been charged with killing a high school teacher in a drive-by shooting in Washington County.

Sheriff's officials say 46-year-old David Frigaard was shot in the chest in his truck at an intersection in Mahtomedi about 3:30 a.m. Saturday.

A criminal complaint charging Bailey Jordan Garcia with second-degree murder says the defendant was parked near the intersection and shot at the truck with a rifle, then fled the area. Garcia was arrested after crashing his vehicle.

The complaint says Garcia told investigators he fled because he was scared and didn't know if he hit the driver of the truck.

Frigaard was an art teacher at Park High School in Cottage Grove. He also owned Frigaard's bar in Willernie where patrons left flowers, candles and hand-written messages in his memory.
