UNDATED – For the second month in a row a majority of Minnesotans killed on the roadways were not buckled up.

The Minnesota Department of Public Safety says 18 people were killed on the state’s roads in January, 13 of them failed to buckle their seat belt.  One of those fatalities happened in Benton County.

Back in December, 18 of the 23 traffic deaths involved unbelted passengers or drivers.

In Minnesota it’s the law for drivers and all passengers to be belted.
