MNsure Hits 100K Enrollment Milestone

ST. PAUL, (AP) - More than 100,000 Minnesotans have now enrolled in health insurance using the state's online exchange.

MNsure said Friday the enrollment milestone is a good sign as the agency works to get people signed up under the federal health care law. People who don't sign up for coverage by the end of March will face federal tax penalties.

Many Minnesotans faced obstacles to enrolling through MNsure because of rampant technical problems with its website. Agency leaders said in recent weeks that many of those obstacles have been addressed and fewer people are experiencing delays in getting coverage.

But enrollment in MNsure is still lagging initial expectations and has been more heavily weighted toward public versus private insurance than initially hoped.
