RICE - After years of preparation, a major road realignment project on Highway 10 in Rice is getting underway today (Monday).

The Minnesota Department of Transportation says the $11.3 million Highway 10 and Benton County Road 2 realignment project will be completed in November of 2014.

When it's done, new bridges will carry Highway 10 traffic over Benton County Road 2, ramps will provide improved access to local roads, and new acceleration lanes will be added.

Work to be done this year includes: building temporary bypass lanes, installing westbound off ramp, and realigning the frontage road.
