NISSWA (AP) — Irene Hagen says she was at her Nisswa home Friday when she got a phone call from Newtown, Conn., saying her granddaughter was in a lockdown at school.

A few hours later, Hagen learned that 6-year-old Charlotte Bacon was one of 20 children killed in the shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School.

Hagen says the whole family is devastated and trying to come to terms with Charlotte's death. She says it is unimaginable.

Hagen says Charlotte was sweet and energetic. She had beautiful red, curly hair and she loved school. She also loved wearing dresses.

Seventeen members of the Hagen family will travel from Minnesota to Connecticut on Monday morning. Charlotte's funeral will be held later this week.
