MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — Minneapolis police say officers shot and killed a suspect who was stabbing a man in an apartment.

Authorities say officers responded to a report of a combative man armed with a weapon about 5:15 a.m. Monday and found the suspect holding a knife. Police say the man ran into an apartment. Officers forced their way into the unit after hearing cries for help.

Officials say the officers found the suspect stabbing an adult male victim and shot the assailant.

The man who was shot died at Hennepin County Medical Center. The man who was stabbed was also taken to HCMC. His condition is not known. An officer was also treated at the hospital for a broken bone.
