MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — A grand jury has indicted a Crystal man on a first-degree murder charge in the death of his 10-year-old son whose body was found in the Mississippi River.

The Hennepin County grand jury returned the indictment against 33-year-old Pierre Collins. The indictment was handed up last week.

Collins earlier was charged with second-degree murder. He remained in jail Monday with bail set at $2 million and is due back in court July 7.

Collins' son, Barway, went missing on March 18. He was last seen getting off the school bus in front of his apartment.

His body, bound with duct tape, was found in the Mississippi River in April.

Prosecutors allege that Pierre Collins was financially strapped and killed his son to collect life insurance.
