EDEN PRAIRIE (AP) - Family and friends have gathered at a Twin Cities-area church to remember a family of five killed in an apparent murder-suicide earlier this month.

Police say 48-year-old Brian Short fatally shot his wife and three teenage children in their Greenwood home before turning the gun on himself. Officers found them Sept. 10 during a welfare check at their home.

A memorial service for the family was held Sunday at Grace Church in Eden Prairie. Short's brother-in-law Leo Williams said family and friends know "this is not the man" Short was. Williams said Short had been absent from family events and boating excursions.

Speakers also talked about the three children, including 17-year-old Cole's practical joking, 15-year-old Madison's love of reading and 14-year-old Brooklyn's passion for soccer. The three attended Minnetonka High School.
