MELROSE - A motorcycle driver from Melrose was hurt in a rear-end crash on Interstate 94 this (Monday) afternoon.  The Minnesota State Patrol says it happened just after 12:30 p.m.

A van driven by 17-year-old Luis Hernandez Montanez of Melrose was in the left lane and suddenly slowed to use the vehicle crossover that was marked "no u turn".

Forty-seven-year-old Thomas Newman of Melrose was riding his motorcycle and swerved to avoid hitting the van, but struck the rear.  He was airlifted to St. Cloud Hospital with leg injuries.

The driver of the van, and the five other passengers, were not hurt.
