Marvin Clifford Teigland, age 87, St. Cloud, MN, died Tuesday, January 20, 2015 at the St. Cloud Veterans Administration Medical Center.

Memorial Services will be Friday, February 13, 2015 at 11:00 AM at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, St. Cloud, MN. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church on Friday. Full military honors will be provided by the American Legion. Private family burial will be at a later date. Funeral arrangements were by Benson Funeral Home, St. Cloud, MN.

Marvin was born August 29, 1927 in Nordlund Township, Lyon County, MN to Hans Oli and Jenny Marie (Gunderson) Teigland. He was a graduate of Minneota High School, Minneota, MN and attended Winona Teachers College.

Marvin was employed by the Canby Roller Rink, Canby, MN as Manager Recreation Establishment from 1945 - 1948 and March 1950 to October 1950. He enlisted in the United States Army in December 1948 and attended Quartermaster School at Camp Lee, VA where he completed an 8 week course in Basic Administration. Marvin was discharged on December 20, 1949 at Fort Monmouth, NJ. He was reactivated in October 1950 and served in Korea at the 226th Ord Base Depot APO 59. Marvin received an honorable discharge in May 1953. On June 9, 1954 Marvin married Lois M. Hyink in Luverne, MN. Marvin was employed by John Morrell Co., Sears Roebuck Co., Gates Rubber Co., all in Sioux Falls, SD. He was then employed by Gambles, Sporleders Plumbing, Globe Inc., Central Contractors Supply, Solar Resources, Reinert Construction Co., City of St. Cloud, and Crossroads Mall all in St. Cloud, MN.

Marvin was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church, a member of Sauk Rapids American Legion Post # 254, a life member of Sauk Rapids VFW Post #6992, and a member of St. Cloud Eagles Aerie #622. He enjoyed camping, fishing, hiking, bike riding, walking, bowling, cribbage, and visiting with family and friends. He also loved going to bingo in various locations.

Survivors include sons and daughters, Clifford (Alice) Teigland of St. Cloud, MN; James Teigland of Sartell, MN; Richard (Kim) Teigland of Sartell, MN; Mary Ann (Tom) Petron of St. Cloud MN; Katherine (Mel) Bopp of Marion IA; Sharon (Martin) Kettner of St. Cloud, MN; step son, John (Sharon) Hyink of Algona, IA; 33 grandchildren; 45 great grandchildren and 4 great great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, step father, William Smith, wife, Lois on May 15, 1995, brothers, Henry, Alton “Tony” and Harvey Teigland, and great grandson, Thomas Christen.

Honorary pallbearers will be grandchildren: John Behrendt, Samuel Johnstone, Gregory Teigland, Elizabeth Kettner, Brian Teigland and Arynn Teigland.

Memorials are preferred to Minnesota State Park Trails System development and maintenance.
