ST. PAUL (AP) — A Maplewood man has been sentenced to more than 24 years in prison for fatally shooting a college student who answered his Craigslist ad.

Ramsey County Judge Margaret Marrinan gave 27-year-old Steven Emmanuel Lewis the most severe sentence she could Wednesday.

Lewis apologized for his actions.

Nineteen-year-old Hamline University computer student Aung Thu Bo was shot in August 2012 after responding to Lewis' Craigslist ad for a cellphone.

Bo and his girlfriend drove to look at an iPhone Lewis advertised. The complaint says Lewis got in the couple's car, held a gun to Bo's head, leaned forward to search his pockets and the gun went off. The victim's girlfriend was not hurt.

Lewis pleaded guilty in July to second-degree murder and aggravated robbery.
