MAPLE LAKE - The Maple Lake Ice Fishing Derby has been cancelled. For just the 2nd time in 41 years organizers have cancelled the tournament due to inconsistent ice conditions.

The derby was originally set for February 6th, but it was recently pushed back to the 20th, hoping for an improvement in the ice. However, the Wright County Sheriff's deputies are calling the ice conditions on area lake "very inconsistent".

The derby's vintage snowmobile show, arctic plunge, ice auger drilling contest, and the dance on the ice are also cancelled.
