Man Shot By Twin Cities Area Police Was Washington High School Senior
MINNEAPOLIS (AP) - A man killed by Minnesota police after an apparent homicide and high-speed chase has been identified as a Washington state high school senior.
The Ramsey County Medical Examiner says 18-year-old Johnathon Dean Mar of Kennewick, Washington, died of blood loss from multiple gunshot wounds. He was shot on Interstate 694 in Shoreview after police say he brandished a weapon.
Authorities pursued Mar after they found another man shot dead at a highway rest stop in Maple Grove. The vehicle Mar was driving matched the suspect's vehicle.
The Kennewick School District says Mar was enrolled at Legacy High School and Tri-Tech Skills Center since November. He was enrolled in the district for seven months between 2011 and 2014, and also attended an out-of-district online school.
Authorities are still investigating.
