MINNEAPOLIS (AP) - Minneapolis fire officials say a man suffered serious injuries after falling about 40 feet in an abandoned mill.

The accident happened early Friday. The Minneapolis Fire Department says the man and two friends were exploring one of the upper portions of the Fruen Mill.

It took rescuers about an hour to get the man out. He was taken to Hennepin County Medical Center with serious injuries including facial trauma and a possible broken leg or more.

One firefighter also went to the hospital for evaluation after possible blood exposure.

The fire department is reminding the public of the dangers of urban exploring and trespassing in abandoned buildings.

Earlier this month, 20-year-old University of Minnesota student Emily Roland died after a fall inside a vacant grain elevator in Minneapolis.
