HASTINGS, Minn. (AP) - A 33-year-old Farmington man has been sentenced to 10 days in jail for a van crash that killed a passenger.

Salomon Galacia Adorno also was given a year of probation and ordered to pay restitution.

Adorno was convicted of misdemeanor careless driving. He was driving a van that crashed in Apple Valley in December 2012 and then was struck by an SUV.

A front-seat passenger in the van, 26-year-old Inocencio Munoz-Gutierrez, of Farmington, was killed.

Adorno was not under the influence of drugs or alcohol at the time. A spokesman for the state Department of Public Safety says Adorno never has had a driver's license in Minnesota. State records show that Adorno has been convicted three times, in 2008 and 2009, for driving without a license.
