Man Fatally Shot By Officers In Orono Identified

ORONO (AP) - The Hennepin County Medical Examiner has identified the man fatally shot by police outside the Orono home where a Twin Cities physician was found dead.

Dr. Stephen Larson was found dead in his home Friday night. When officers arrived they encountered a man in the yard armed with a handgun. Police say shots were fired and 30-year-old Ted Hoffstrom, of St. Anthony, was killed.

The medical examiner says multiple gunshot wounds caused the deaths of both men.

Authorities have not said what Hoffstrom was doing at Larson's home. The sheriff's department plans a news conference later Monday.
