GOLDEN VALLEY, Minn. (AP) - Authorities say an intoxicated man was impaled in the leg when he fell from the side of a hot tub outside a Golden Valley home and a fence post went through his thigh.

Reports say the incident happened late Saturday. Firefighters had to cut the post, and the victim was sent to the hospital with part of the wrought iron-style fence still in his leg.

Police Sgt. Dave Born says the man was conscious, but in pain. He says the man is lucky the post didn't go through his abdomen or chest. He says the man was and others were drinking, and the whole situation could have been prevented.
