MINNEAPOLIS - Minneapolis fire officials say a man is dead after a house fire in south Minneapolis.

The Fire Department says the fire broke out in the single-family home around 4:30 a.m. Sunday.

The man who died probably lived in the home. His body was found on the second floor, where Assistant Chief Bryan Tyner says fire burned through the roof.

One firefighter was hurt when he fell in the slippery conditions, but he was not seriously hurt.

The name of the victim has not been released. The cause of the fire is under investigation. Authorities say it's the first fire fatality of the year for Minneapolis.
