Man Dies After Being Buried In Ditch

CHASKA (AP) - Authorities say a 78-year-old man is dead after being accidentally buried in a drainage ditch in Carver County.

Sheriff Jim Olson says his office was called to the accident in Dahlgren Township just after 2 p.m. Sunday.

Olson says the victim, Dennis Peter Lenzen, was installing drainage tile in his farm field. As Lenzen was standing in the ditch, an employee pushed dirt into the ditch to hold the drainage tile that had just been installed.

Lenzen was buried. The employee called for help and tried to dig him out by hand.

Emergency responders located Lenzen and tried to revive him, but he was dead at the scene.
