MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — A 36-year-old man has been convicted of helping kill another man with a hammer, sword and bayonet in Ramsey County.

A jury found Santana Valdez guilty Friday of two counts of second-degree murder.

According to testimony, Valdez, a methamphetamine dealer, and two others went to Andrew Braun's home in St. Paul to collect a drug debt on March 19.

They are accused of using a hammer, screwdriver, knife, bayonet and sword last March to kill the 38-year-old Braun and then leave him on his front porch. Valdez is accused of nearly severing Braun's arm with a sword.

Jurors also found aggravating factors that will allow the judge to give Valdez a longer sentence April 3.

The two co-defendants previously pleaded guilty.
