ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) - A St. Paul man is charged in the fatal shooting of a 26-year-old man at a public housing complex.

Twenty-four-year-old Lepierre Cortia Carpenter was charged Wednesday with second-degree murder. His bail was set at $1 million.

Witnesses say the victim, Parnell Robinson, was visiting his girlfriend Monday evening at the complex on St. Paul's East Side. Robinson had teased a friend who was walking by when Carpenter, who lives in the neighboring unit and shares the front porch, allegedly fired at Robinson several times.

The complaint says the girlfriend saw Carpenter throw a handgun into the yard and walk back into his unit.

Carpenter was reportedly sitting on the curb and put his hands up when police arrived and arrested him.
