RICE -- Over 40 outdoor activities will be going on in Rice on Saturday as part of the 7th annual Take a Day OFF (Outdoor Family Fun) event.

The event features several free outdoor activities with equipment provided in an attempt to promote the use of the area's natural resources, namely, the Mississippi River.

"The activities range from archery to disc golf to on-the-water activities like paddleboarding and canoeing," says Katie Winkelman, who is co-coordinating the event for the second year.

Winkelman has been involved in some capacity with the event for all seven years and says she looks forward to meeting the people who come out each year.

"It is a very exciting event to be a part of," Winkelman says. "[We have] about 120 volunteers and staff members and it's really encouraging to see that many people coming together in community support -- it's very humbling."

Take a Day OFF runs from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Stearns County Mississippi River Park in Rice. Those planning on attending are reminded to dress comfortably and bring sunscreen.
