Local Unemployment Rate Up Slightly in July

UNDATED - The unemployment rate for the St. Cloud metro area ticked up slightly last month.

The Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development says we're now at 5.8%, that's up from 5.7% in June.

They say the metro area's labor force grew by 2,400 people last month, with 2,100 more people employed than the previous month.  But, the number of people in the unemployment line also went up by 300.

Our 5.8% unemployment rate is the same as the state's rate.
