LITCHFIELD -- A Litchfield man was hurt after his pickup truck collided with a train this (Thursday) morning.

The Meeker County Sheriff's Office says 24-year-old Tanner Gassman was crossing the tracks and heading for Highway 12 when an eastbound train collided with the rear of the truck, flipped it and pushed it into the ditch.

Gassman suffered minor injuries and was taken to the hospital by a private party.

The truck was heavily damaged.

The crossing is only controlled by a stop sign and sheriff's officials remind everyone to use extra caution when crossing railroad tracks.

The crash happened just before 8:30 a.m. in the city of Litchfield.
