He was born on May 1, 1948 in Montevideo, MN, the son of Leslie and Lillian (Frith) Campbell. He grew up in Montevideo, graduating from Montevideo High School in the class of 1966. He married his soulmate, Donna Mitlyng on November 25, 1966 at Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Montevideo. Lee attended Mankato State University and focused on business. Lee and Donna moved to Cambridge, MN when Lee took a job as a lineman for Northwestern Bell. The family then moved to Princeton. He continued to work for the telephone company for a total of 38 years, as they went through many name changes and he was promoted to systems engineer. Following his retirement from the telephone company, he began his own business, Prime Communications out of his home. Lee was a volunteer fire fighter in Princeton for about 10 years. He enjoyed fishing and hunting in his younger years. Lee is remembered as someone who could fix anything, being especially fond of tinkering with classic cars. He built his own detached garage and potting shed in his back yard. He took delight in listening to 50s & 60s music, feeding the birds and taking care of the bird baths. He had an appreciation for poetry, wildlife prints and flower gardens. He loved spending time at the lake, traveling and camping. Most of all, he adored his family, especially his children and grandchildren. He loved taking the grandchildren out for breakfast or to Dairy Queen. He'll always be remembered for his generosity and welcoming spirit to all who knew him. He will be dearly missed.

Lee is survived his wife of 49 years, Donna of Princeton; children, Chad (Jackie) Campbell of Paynesville, Heidi (Rob) Campbell-Beer of Fargo, ND, and Jay (significant other Sona Schneck) Campbell of Shakopee; grandchildren, Jared, Kjerstin and Claire Campbell of Paynesville and Caden and Carson Beer of Fargo, ND; siblings, Cathleen Heggestad and Paul Campbell both of Montevideo; along with many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
