ST. CLOUD - Central Minnesota has no shortage of wilderness areas, and yesterday, state senators Bill Ingebrigtsen of Alexandria and John Pederson of St. Cloud took tours of a number of them.

The trek included Bertram Regional Chain of Lakes Park in Monticello, River Bluffs Regional Park in St. Cloud, River's Edge Park in Waite Park,  the Lake Wobegon Trail and Quarry Park and Nature Preserve.

Stearns County Parks Director Chuck Wocken says the goal of the trek was to show the lawmakers areas that could be further developed with Park and Trail Legacy grants - grants that don't always come to the aid of central Minnesota the same way they do in and around the Twin cities.

Wocken added that both the legislators were quite impressed with central Minnesota's wilderness areas.
