Laverne A. Sanford, 89, Princeton

April 3, 1926 - April 5, 2015

Laverne Ann Sanford, age 89, of Princeton, passed away on Sunday, April 5, 2015 at Fairview Northland Hospital in Princeton. She was born April 3, 1926 in St. Cloud, the daughter of Henry and Mary (Lommell) Zeroth.

Laverne was united in marriage to Robert Sanford in Princeton. The two farmed before owning the Long Siding Tavern from 1964-1973. Laverne also worked at Honeywell for many years and at the Princeton Elim Home as a nurse’s aide. Laverne was a faithful member of Christ Our Light Catholic Parish as well as a member of the Legion Auxiliary.

Laverne enjoyed gardening, traveling, playing cards and having fun. She enjoyed spending time at the deer cabin, fishing and spending time with her family.

Laverne is survived by her children, Robert (Helen), Duane (Tracy), Rusty (Pat) and Ruth (Dave) Helmin; grandchildren, Scott, Darryl and Darren Sanford; Rachael Sanford, Rebecca Cole, Regina Sanford and Rachel Adams; Bubba, Gena, Trisha and Angie Sanford; Dana Peterson, Josh Helmin, Maria Salgren, Davey Helmin and Jenny Ohrmundt; great-grandchildren, Stella, Jack and Max; Ally, Cora and Spencer; Celtic and Sierra; and Macayla, Zach, Cody, Madelyn, Levi, Emily, Ethan and Bowdi; along with many nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Robert; son Mark; brothers Raymond and Roman; sisters Loretta Nelson, Leona Leisz, and Dorothy Reed; and longtime friend Leonard Sanford.
