ST. CLOUD -- Demolition has begun on the former Holiday Gas Station along East St. Germain Street in St. Cloud.

The property is currently owned by Kwik Trip. A spokesperson says they are in the process of cleaning up the site, however there are no plans to build a new store at this time.

Back in January plans for redeveloping the 400 block of East St. Germain Street started to move forward when developer Bob Abel bought the former Ace Bar and Grill building.

Abel's plan was to buy up the rest of the block and potentially sell it to Kwik Trip, or buy the building from them and developed it into something else. The whole redevelopment project has been on hold after a state grant for the project fell through.

Kwik Trip representatives say they would like to put a store on the site but are waiting for further developments.

Calls to Abel have not been returned.
