Judith M. Durand, 74, Long Prairie

December 31, 1940 - June 6, 2015

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 am, Wednesday, June 10, 2015 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Swanville for Judith M. Durand, age 74, of Long Prairie, who passed away suddenly without suffering on Saturday, June 6, 2015 at CentraCare Health Systems-Long Prairie. Fr. Ronald Dockendorf will officiate and burial with be in Moses Dane Cemetery, Burtrum. Family and friends may call one hour prior to the services at the church on Wedenesday. Arrangements entrusted to Williams Dingmann Family Funeral Home – Stein Chapel, Long Prairie.

Judy was born on December 31, 1940 to Paul Shelly & Gloria Jean (King) Kranz, the oldest child of their six children. She attended school in Hastings, Minnesota at Guardian Angels Grade School and Hastings High School, graduating in 1958. My mom was “The Bell” of her high school class. She earned an LPN at the University of Minnesota before earning her Bachelors of Arts in Elementary Education in 1964 at the University of Wisconsin-River Falls, where she met Cyrille M.Duand. They were married on November 5, 1966 at Guardian Angels Church in Hastings, and had one child, Mary Margaret Catherine Durand. Cy and Judy were married for 48 years, during which Judy taught in the Milwaukee area for 30+ years, and they raised Mary. They retired to Long Prairie in August of 1997.

Judy enjoyed homemaking, decorating, pottery, gardening, and playing cards. She was also very musical, she played the piano and saxophone.

Judy is survived by her devoted husband, Cy, daughter, Mary Margaret, and three grandchildren, Jheremy M., Wesley S., and Kailiegh Colleen Grenet. She is also survived by her brothers, Ed (Shelly) Kranz, Paul (Theresa) Kranz, Peter (Elizabeth) Kranz, and sister, Marcia Jean Kranz.

She was preceded in death by her mother and father, and brother Nicholas and sister-in-law, Jill.
