The Mass of Christian Burial, celebrating the life of Joseph M. Gogala, age 97 of Albany will be 11:00 AM, Wednesday, May 13 at the St. Anthony Catholic Church in St. Anthony (rural Albany). Burial will be in the parish cemetery. Joseph died Friday at the Southview Acres Health care Center in South St. Paul. There will be a visitation from 4-8:00 PM Tuesday at the Miller-Carlin-Brenny Funeral Home in Albany and again after 10:00 AM Wednesday at the church in St. Anthony. St. Anthony parish prayers will be at 4:00 PM Tuesday at the funeral home in Albany.

Joseph was born September 13, 1917 in Albany to John and Frances (Giesenhof) Gogala. He was in the U.S. Army during WWII, serving in the South Pacific on Guadalcanal. He returned to Albany and farmed until his retirement. He is a member of the St. Anthony Catholic Church, the Albany American Legion and the Melrose VFW.

Joseph is survived by his sisters; Gertrude Gilk, Roscoe; Theresa Becker, Long Prairie; Frances Bryniarski, South St. Paul; and his brother, John (Marilyn) Gogala, South St. Paul.

He is preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, Anthony Gogala, Andrew Gogala; sisters, Agnes Trenda and Mary Ann Frericks.
