Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 AM Friday, August 28, 2015 at St. Benedict’s Catholic Church in Avon for John P. Kilanowski who died Monday at the VA Medical Center in St. Cloud. Rev. Blane Wasnie will officiate and interment will take place at the MN State Veterans Cemetery in Little Falls. Friends and relatives may call from 4-8PM Thursday, August 27 and also after 9:30 AM Friday morning at the St. Benedict’s Catholic Church in Avon. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Williams Dingmann Funeral Home, St. Cloud. St. Benedict’s Parish prayers will be at 4:15 PM Thursday at the church.

John was born in Bertha to Leo and Lorraine (Host) Kilanowski. He married Patricia Swanson on July 14, 1973 at the Assumption Catholic Church in Morris. He served honorably in the U.S. Army. John was employed by Cold Spring Granite as a granite polisher for the last 17 years until he retired in 2015. He enjoyed deer hunting, fishing, playing cards and spending time at the cabin with family and his grandchildren. John was a caring man who will be greatly missed.

He is survived by his loving wife of 42 years, Patricia; children, Heidi (Henry) Hemmesch of Avon, Joshua (Dacia) of North Branch, John II (Kelley) of Avon, Jeremy (Amanda Pilarski) of Avon; brothers and sisters, Jeanette (Harvey) Reichel of St. Cloud, Jerome (Cathy) of St. Cloud, Richard of McGregor, James of Avon, Darlene (Robert) Ripka of Rice; grandchildren, Nicholas Beuning, Katelyn Beuning and Taylor Kilanowski; mother-in-law, Edell Swanson of Morris.

John was preceded in death by his parents; father-in-law, Douglas Swanson and sister-in-law, Ginny Kilanowski.
