Itasca County Man Pleads Not Guilty in Death of Infant Son
GRAND RAPIDS (AP) - A 38-year-old Itasca County man has pleaded not guilty to murder charges in connection with the death of his three-month-old son.
Emery James Jenkins was charged last week with two counts of first-degree murder, in addition to an initial count of second-degree murder. He pleaded not guilty Tuesday and withdrew his demand for a speedy trial.
Jenkins is accused of repeatedly abusing his son, who ultimately died of blunt force trauma in October. A medical examiner found the boy also had bite marks all over his body.
Jenkins was scheduled to head to trial in March, but it was delayed until April.
