BENTON COUNTY -- If you have received a phone call from the IRS recently you may have been involved in a scam.

The Benton County Sheriff's Office says residents have been receiving phone calls from people posing as IRS agents demanding money.

Residents are told they owe money to the IRS and that a warrant has been issued for their arrest. The victim then is told they can resolve the warrant by sending money and giving bank information to the person posing as the IRS agent.

Deputies say the IRS does not make phone calls to people who owe back taxes or collect money over the phone.

The Benton County Sheriff's Office is reminding you to be cautious about sending money and never give out personal information to people you do not know.
