ST. CLOUD -- GREAT Theatre has announced its show schedule for the 2016-2017 season. In honor of what would be Roald Dahl's 100 birthday, two of the shows are based on the influential author's work -- Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, and James and the Giant Peach. Other notable productions include musical versions of Sister Act and A Christmas Story, the children's classic Chitty Chitty Bang Bang and the popular dinner theatre show, Tony N' Tina's Wedding.

    Sister Act

    September 9th-25th

    The season begins with the fresh from Broadway tribute to the power of friendship is a reason to REJOICE!  The New York Post proclaims " Big, glitzy numbers . . . with nuns! "Sister Act" of the season's happiest surprises."  And it was the number one choice of GREAT Season members in our annual show survey!

    Charlie and the Chocolate Factory

    October 21st-30th

    Tremendous things are in store for you as you join Charlie Bucket in a delicious tour of Willy Wonka's world-famous Chocolate Factory. Behind the magical gates is a chocolate river, an army of squirrels and the curiously peculiar Oompa-Loompas must be seen to be believed.  A play choc-full of fantastical treats to dazzle your senses.

    A Christmas Story: The Musical

    November 26th-December 11th

    For the holidays we introduce a new musical based on the movie classic that runs round-the-clock on television every Christmas. It follows 9-year-old Ralphie Parker and his quest for an Official Red Ryder Range Model air rifle. Featuring iconic scenes from the movie and a versatile score including the inevitable "You'll Shoot Your Eye Out!"

    James and the Giant Peach

    February 3rd-12th

    Based on one of Roald Dahl's most poignantly quirky stories this is a brand new musical on this "masterpeach" of a tale.  Featuring a wickedly tuneful score of singing insects and a witty and charming book, this adventurous musical about courage and self-discovery launches a journey of enormous proportions.

    Chitty Chitty Bang Bang

    March 31st-April 9th

    Buckle in for a fantastic musical adventure with an out-of-this-world car that flies through the air featuring an unforgettable score by the Sherman Brothers (Mary Poppins.) Filled with amazing stage spectacle and a flying, yes flying, car this is ultimately a feel-good story about the power of family and the bonds created to overcome any obstacle.
