WAITE PARK -- It was opening night today (Tuesday) for GREAT Theatre and their new headquarters.

The new building is located at 710 Sundial Drive in Waite Park after spending the last 17 years operating in downtown St. Cloud.

Board Member Steve Palmer says their new location offers so much more convenience and amenities for the actors and staff.

"We have administrative offices, conference spaces, two rehearsal studios, and our set building area is here within this building," says Palmer.

The nearly three acre lot allows for every aspect of production to operate under one roof which will lead to better overall production and efficiency.

"Which will help us save money and helps us to put more resources back into programming," says Palmer.

There is even a second act to the show which Palmer says should happen in the next year or two.

"We are going to be adding to the building by building a larger scene shop and then in it's place we are building a learning lab," says Palmer.

However the biggest surprise came with the announcement of their Capital Campaign and the amount of money they already raised.

"I'm so pleased and thrilled to announce we have raise to date over $1-million-dollars of our $1.7-million-dollar goal for our total campaign," says Palmer.

Palmer says the new facility will continue to grow GREAT Theatre's legacy and he is honored to work with so many amazing people.

"It's a real treat to be apart of this amazing organization and to help bring live theatre to Central Minnesota," says Palmer.

GREAT Theatre's first performance of Ragtime The Musical will run from September 11th to September 27th.
