ST. JOSEPH -- One of the most beloved musicals of all time hits the stage at The College of Saint Benedict this month as GREAT Theatre presents Mary Poppins.

For the next two weekends, GREAT Theatre brings the classic 1964 Disney movie to life with singing, dancing, and magic to brighten these dark winter days for area families.

"This story is so wonderful and near and dear to many of us," director Aimee Miron says. "The stage musical takes the beloved elements of the movie and adds richness to some of our main characters and it's just a delight."

The show's cast contains 59 kids and adults -- the largest group Miron has ever directed.

"It takes a lot of organization and a lot of patience," Miron says. "But this cast is just wonderful -- we are becoming a family."

The story of Mary Poppins includes plenty of magical moments, which Miron says are absolutely including in the stage performance -- especially Ms. Poppins' most famous ability.

"We wouldn't want to disappoint, Mary Poppins does fly in our production," Miron says. "Many of the special effects in our show are very old school, simple theatre tricks and they're just charming and delightful."

Nine performances of Mary Poppins are scheduled the next two weekends at Escher Auditorium in the Benedicta Arts Center in St. Joseph. CLICK HERE for more ticket information.
