ST. CLOUD -- A $150,000 grant will be used to help attract more minority teachers to area schools.

St. Cloud State University and the St. Cloud Area School District received the Bush Foundation Supporting Diversity in Teaching grant as additional funding to support SCSU's Teacher Preparation Initiative.

The program allows education students to receive more hands-on experience while simultaneously providing a more diverse teaching staff in area schools.

Faculty from SCSU will work with the district's teachers and administrators over the course of the next year to design the program.

The program is expected to bring about more opportunities for other school districts to form similar partnerships with St. Cloud State.
