ROCKVILLE -- The public access on Grand Lake near Rockville is closed this week while crews work to remove Starry Stonewart. Divers and other workers will be in the water trying to remove the invasive weed by hand.

Starry Stonewart was discovered near the boat landing earlier this summer. Left untreated, it can cause large weed mats and make the lake difficult to use and also choke off native weed species.

Starry Stonewart is extremely difficult to remove and has never been completely eradicated from any infested water.

The Grand Lake boat launch is closed from 8:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m. Wednesday through Friday this week.
