MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — Part of Hiawatha Avenue in south Minneapolis was closed as crews searched for the source of a gas leak in the industrial area.

A spokeswoman for CenterPoint Energy says ADM Milling employees reported smelling gas in a grain elevator and immediately evacuated the building about 4:30 p.m. Wednesday.

Crews from the gas company aired out the building and are searching for the source of the gas leak.

As a precaution, crews closed Hiawatha Avenue from East 33rd Street to East 36th Street for much of the afternoon rush hour. Crews also shut down East 35th Street between Hiawatha and Snelling avenues.
